Welcome to the Altona, NY website!

First of all, this is a privately run website.  The town of Altona has been working on a website for three years and still does not have one.

This site is a work in progress.  It was created in one day and will evolve over time.  What we hope to include in this website are:

• Link to video of the Town Board meetings.  Meetings are not video recorded by the town, but will be recorded by private citizens.  Calvin Castine has offered to show the meetings on Hometown Cable and post the video on Plattsburgh.com
• A PDF file of the official minutes of the Board Meetings.  You will be able to view, read and save this file for future reference.  They will also be archived for future reference.
• A copy of the yearly budget and possibly a "snapshot" of the checkbook register along with the minutes.  
• Contact information for all elected officials.  As of now you can contact the town hall at (518) 236-7035.  We will not post contact information unless we are provided this info by the town.  Hopefully it will include names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
• We would also like to expand this website to include pages for the Highway Dept, Zoning, Town Clerk's Office, Community Outreach, the Tax Assessor's Office and the Town Historian's Office.  I am not sure if the youth commission has a webpage, but they are certainly welcome here!  If they have a webpage we will include a link to their site on the "links" page.
• A "links" page.  This page will include other government and private website pertaining to Altona. Here is the first link.  If you want to be involved in town politics you need to know this stuff!!!http://www.dos.ny.gov/coog/openmeetlaw.html#s103  This link takes you to section 103 of PUBLIC OFFICERS LAW, ARTICLE 7 which deals with the Open Meeting Law.  All of Article 7 is very interesting and worth looking at.
